Tell the Story: Child of the Sea; Told

This girl lives in a really clear lake and gardens with her fish. One day, researchers come and see her. Naturally, they see a girl in the water so they 'save' (capture) her. But then they find out she's not human and take her back to the lab to do research.

Now she's in this huge glass tank, no fish, not wildlife. She's scared and lonely. All the while she sings this song about her loneliness and longing for the sea.

The mind researcher's son is increased but also saddened. He hears her sad, lonely call but can't answer. You see, her people communicate though their songs, putting their feelings and words into them. Humans can't hear that, only a beautiful whale song. But if that human is sad and lonely then he'll hear that in the song and connect with it. This is the case.

He's so moved by her song that he manages to convince his dad to let her go. (Nothing was happening and she was declining do he obliged)

The girl knows it was the son but is still wary of humans.

When she gets back to the lake, the fish run from her. This is because she has a tag that she can't get off. The fish no longer see her as their own. Now she belongs nowhere, not here in the lake or out on the land. She longs for the sea back can't go yet.

Everyone can hear her lonely song now, you just have to put your head in the water. The boy understands because he's an outcast too. So he makes a song like hers and sings it back.

It has no meaning to the girl but she's so lonely that she tries to sing back. Over the first year, the boy manages to make a song like hers enough to communicate. There's one thing though, the Children if the Sea's song is like Sirens. If you listen to their song for a long time continuously. (Like for a year) you begin longing for the sea and having faster swimming, holding your breath longer, etc. You will eventually become a Child of the Sea.

No one knows this though. The boy now knows where the sea or the lake is by heart. It's too late for him. The first conversation he had with the girl went like this:

"You are becoming like me,

I long for the sea

It's not my time yet though I wish it was."

Something like that.

The more he talks to her, the more he becomes like her. His parents are starting to become worried.

Now he can breathe underwater. It's almost time to go. He visits a friend for advice. Should he go? Or not? She says to go, he'll no longer be content on the land.

So he goes. He tells his parents goodbye and leaves a note, warning his father not to listen to her songs. That night, he goes to the lake to meet the girl.

"It's time to go to the Sea!

You’re are like me

We'll go together!

To the sea..."

And so he dives down. When he hits the bottom, he changes fully. He is now a Child of the Sea. They go to the sea and meet the girl's family. They live and do things in the sea for four years.

Then he goes back to the lake to visit. The thing is, unlike Children of the Sea, he can breathe air (for a while). He meets his friend and his parents. It's a tearful reunion. His parents are sad that he is called to the sea, but can't do anything about it. He says, they could come to the sea and be with him, but the parents don't want to. After the reunion, he goes back to the sea where it calls him.

This girl is if a species called Children if the Sea. The parents leave their child at a certain age in a lake then leave for the sea. That child will grow untill her lungs can survive in the sea. When that time comes, she'll go to the sea. Each Child of the Sea has its own unique song and families have similar songs so you can tell their family. Children of the Sea garden and take care of wildlife. They also have glowing marks on their skin.
