I have designed more rock wolves! There are still more to come, but these are the ones done.
Apparently, Diorite is "rare." It is cooled lava that had a lot of *a mineral that I don't remember* in it. So, these wolves live deep in the mountains in tunnels carved out by lava. Since they live in almost complete darkness, their eyes are huge and would not be able to handle light above ground. These wolves are small, probably very tough-skinned, with short, scruffy fur. Their paws are different than others, built for gripping the smooth floors of their investment and for picking up rocks. The third toe at the back acts like a thumb. These 'thumbs' are nowhere near as good as ours, but they do their job sufficiently enough for the wolves.
Diorite wolves eat rocks. They pick up small rocks from the floor with their paws and put them in their mouths where their bright, acid green saliva melts the rock into a soup that they swallow. If there are no rocks small enough for them to pick up or fit their mouth around, they will spit on the walls, wait for it to melt, and slurp up the mineral-rich soup.
Limestone comes in various colors, but I liked the blueish-brown kind so there. This wolf is blue. Limestone wolves are longer and sleeker than most, though not by much. They have powerful legs used to propel themselves through the water (limestone is found underwater, I think). They can hold their breath for a long amount of time as well as withstand some water pressure. These wolves have short, thick fur that rebounds water. Their scruff has longer fur that is stiff, like zebra manes.
Marble wolves have, again, shortish fur that is incredibly smooth— if you stroke the fur the correct way. Their tails have longer strands of silky fur so that when they wave it, loose strands float around in the air. Another distinct feature of these marble wolves is their head shape. They have no dip between their forehead and their muzzle; it's just smooth.
Sandstone wolves are fast and have great endurance. They love to run and are very good at it. They have stiff fur on their back, main, and legs. Their tails are stiff and used to brush sand out of their dens which they dig in the sand.
Technically not a rock, but
look at this
beauty. These wolves sometimes venture to hunt out in the sun. They spend most of their time in their caves, tending or eating beryl.
