Serithan Lore Time!
Seritha Lore time! In the mountains, there is a kingdom ruled by Shards. Long ago, it was founded by a Shard who's power had something to do with vows and her mate who had a barrier/forcefield-related-power. Her mate created a barrier around their kingdom to keep it safe and she made their line (somehow) always have a child who has a barrier-related Shard power who can keep up the barrier protecting their kingdom.
This made the kingdom very powerful, big, and wealthy. Throughout the other kingdoms, they were honored and recognized as a kingdom who fought fiercely for their own yet kept peace when possible. However, in nower days, this kingdom is fading and almost gone (much like the elves in Middle Earth/Lothlorien) due to the fading of Shard's strength and the lack of Shards in general. Promise Fulfilled (her name means that; her real name/book name would be something in old Serithan that means Promise Fulfilled) is the current Queen (or whatever title they have; I don't know yet) and probably the last.
Promise Fulfilled has the Shard power to make any wolf have to keep their promise(s), whether they are willing or not. She is old, wise, fierce, and regal, emulating the remaining glory and respect her line and kingdom used to have, and authority as the last standing sanctuary for Shards in her time. She rules alone.
This is Promise Fulfulled's mate. His name means "Gatekeeper", which is fitting because his Shard power is barrier related, allowing him to 'gatekeep' the barrier around his kingdom. Sadly, in a battle to protect his kingdom, he suffered a fatal wound. However, he did not die (yet) because he promised Promise Fulfilled something along the lines that he would protect their kingdom for as long needed. That promise keeps him just enough alive to keep the barrier strong and alive. He will never wake, though, and as soon as his promise is complete, he will pass.
Lastly, these are Kenourage and Promise Fulfulled's daughters. They remain in a secluded place in the mountains, using their Shard powers to help wolves who travel to see them. Liighou, meaning lightling of light, can use light to see very far, visions, and teleport (by hitching a ride on light particles). She relays travelers with visions from the Molder of Clay, prophesies/prophetic worlds (when the Molder of Clay gives them to her), and wisdom gathered from the things she sees.
Nighetou, meaning darkling (which in turn means "of darkness(specifically night)"), can hear the stars and the Molder of Clay. She listens to things farther away than physicality possible, learning and surmising much. Out of her siblings, she is the quietest and mellowest, only speaking when she has something worth to say. She is gentle and gives the most prophies/prophetic words to travelers.
I don't know why these sisters have chosen to live seperate from their mother's kingdom, but they do. They are important to Marei's story, but I don't know how exactly. I'm sure I'll find out eventually :)
