Sun
Sun isn't your average kid. For one, he's not from Earth, and neither is human. Instead, Sun comes from another world where there are three peoples: the Artchia, the Scalvin, and the Humans. Sun is a Scalvin, which means he can take his body heat and turn it into fire.
In this world, there is no sun or moon. No day or night, no bright colors or clouds. Everything is grey and cold. So, the Scalvin light fires and give light to crops the humans make so they can survive. The Artchia live on the sea with sea-faring humans, giving light and warmth with their own powers. Of course, the Artchia and Scalvin can't get along so they fight over who gets to protect (and therefore gets the best food) the humans.
That's the life Sun lives in; a time of war with an overbearing father grooming him for "a great destiny." It's also the world Moon, an Artchia, lives in.
If you haven't guessed yet, this *short* story is about Sun and Moon and how they became the actual sun and moon along with bringing day and night to their world.
