Inescapable Fate

And there you go. My first ever "official" fan art :0 I drew it for a fan art contest hosted on Wattpad and because it was fun :D. This features Kuro (whom I call Edain as that's the name I played the game with) during a momentous time in Evoland II with a little twist :). It is only now that I'm realizing it's quite dark so...I hope it's okay? I'm not fixing it—this took 14 hours + and I am done editing it XD

Anyway, enough rambling. Here's a little timbit of fanfiction from Evoland II that I wrote somewhat recently:

Edain traces a line across his belly, frowning. Instead of the raised, angry red edges of the wound stretching from his left side to his right—one that Aleph said would leave a nasty scar—his skin is smooth and unblemished with no scar to mark the absence of injury. He knew this was what he would find but he still had to check in case this time is different. Why? He knows that too, but…why is it only him? Why can he reset and not the others? Why is death not the end for him?

It doesn’t make sense. He dies in the same way anyone does—too many wounds, someone stabbing him, falling from a height, explosions, anything—but he doesn’t stay dead. Why? Rabbits die when he whacks them and they don’t reappear. People die when he stabs them and they don’t come back. His friends…they…they die when he can’t protect them.

But when he dies, he doesn’t stay dead. Instead, he resets to the time before the cause of death, perfectly alive and able to change the events, with the memories of his mistakes the only proof that he died. It doesn't make sense.
